Overview

Living in Holland

Holland is an incorporated village in eastern Springfield Township, Lucas County, and a suburb of Toledo. The crossroads was first known as Drakes, then Hardy, before taking the name Holland in the 1850s — local histories trace it to drainage ditches dug through the area that reminded early settlers of Dutch canals. A rail stop on the Toledo–Chicago line by the 1850s helped the community grow, and today Holland sits along South McCord Road about 9 miles west of downtown Toledo.
